Is Community Credit Counseling Services approved by the Executive Office for United States Trustees?
Yes. Our agency is approved to issue certificates in compliance with the bankruptcy code.

Do I need to meet with an attorney before I talk to Community Credit Counseling?
No, you do not need to meet with an attorney. In fact, we have a network of attorneys to refer you to after your counseling session.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
Individual appointments are usually booked 2-3 days in advance. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment, or click here for our schedule of workshops.

What will I need to bring with me to my counseling session or workshop?
You will need statements from your creditors, including secured and unsecured debts, a list of monthly expenses and income, a calculator, a pencil (calculator and pencil for group workshops only), and a photo id.

How much time will the session take?
The Executive Office for United States Trustees requires counseling sessions to average 90 minutes, including data gathering. Actual time for a session will vary depending on the complexity of your situation, amount of data to be gathered on the phone, number of questions you ask, etc. Group workshops will be 90 minutes long.

Does Community Credit Counseling Services offer counseling through the internet?
No. Our agency believes in making a personal connection with every client. Meet with a counselor face to face or over the telephone. Group workshops also available.

What will I need to bring with me to meet with the Bankruptcy Attorney?
Six months of paystubs, or documentation of income, four years of tax returns.

Do I have to file for bankruptcy if I receive this counseling?
No, you are not required to file for bankruptcy. During your counseling session you will learn alternatives to bankruptcy.

How can I get the certificates I need, and how long will it take?
A pre-filing counseling certificate will be sent to you or your attorney within 24 hours after the session is completed and the fee is paid. The certificate will be available on-line or mailed to you as necessary.

How long are the certificates valid?
The pre-filing counseling certificate is valid for 180 days. The pre-discharge education certificate is valid indefinitely.
