Where To Begin

Please Read Carefully!

1.Attend Pre Bankruptcy counseling Session through an EOUST Approved Credit Counseling Agency *

  • Choose to participate in a group workshop or meet with a counselor either individually or over the phone.
  • Meet with a counselor individually to analyze your income, expenses, assets and liabilities.
2. Your Pre-filing certificate will be issued within one business day of your counseling session.

  • receive certificate within one business day after completing a counseling session or workshop.
3. Meet with a bankruptcy attorney
  • Contact your bankruptcy attorney to proceed with filing.
  • If you do not have an attorney, contact us and we will refer you to a Bankruptcy attorney in your area.
4. File for Bankruptcy
  • Proceed with filing for bankruptcy with the attorney you have selected. Your attorney will lead you through this process.
  • Contact Community Credit Counseling Services with any questions or concerns.
5. Attend Post Bankruptcy Filing Debtor Education Course
  • Complete a personal financial management course by an approved educational provider.
  • Choose to participate in a group workshop, take the online course or meet with a counselor individually.

6. Bankruptcy is discharged.
    Community Credit Counseling Services has been approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees to issue counseling certificates in compliance with the bankruptcy code.

FEES:
The Initial Budget and Credit Counseling sessions will be provided for a cost of $39.00. If a client enrolls in a Debt Management Plan, as an alternative to filing bankruptcy, this fee may be waived. We accept payments via money order, cashier's check, or you can pay via your debit card. If you are receiving your Bankruptcy Filing pro-bono, or if your sole source of income is disability or social security, this fee may be waived.
